Christmas in April :)
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 11:50 AM
well today was a good day for me. I got my new pulley in the mail this morning and the Fedex guy came this afternoon.

Here's a few shots of the new pulley system. It comes with a quick change hub so I can swap out pulleys in under 5 min. This one is a 3.0" pulley, I was running a 3.4" last year and the stock size is 3.8

Then later on, what I was really waiting for, my new Intense water to air intercooler kit showed up...

Intercooler core...

FlowJet 5 galon per minute water pump.

Two front mount rads...

It also comes with everything to install it including new injector spacers. I am trying to take a vacation day tomorrow and if that happens then everything will be installed tomorrow. I will post up some pics of the install and test drive. I can't wait to get this thing installed.

I will always be trying to step it up intill this car run 10's. It may take me a few years but thats the end goal. Next on the list for this year is a set of headers, DHP Powertuner, Cam, valve springs and injectors. Then we'll just have to see whats in store next winter.

Well this should just about do it. With the headers I should be at or just over 300whp and in the 12's for sure. I'm going to be coming to the GM small car bash next summer so we'll hook up there for sure.

WOOOT WOOOOT!!!
I guess you didnt go through with your original plan for the car this winter? Is the hood going to close with the cooler between the charger and the lower manifold?

Shhh!!! lol that's still in the works but not till next year, need some other things first.

The supercharger should clear the hood with the IC. last week I took an aluminum foil box (2.25" think) and placed it on top of the fuel rails and it cleared without any problems. I don't think it will clear with the engine cover on but I have some plans for that too For now it will just have to sit in the back seat.

Sorry I don't have pics up yet, I just got back from the shop and they are still on the camera there. I will post them in the morning. Thanks to Brad for the use of the shop and thanks to steve for all the help today.

The install went really good with only some small isues (bending fuel rail to clear alt, raising up the ing module and triming some metal behind the passangers side headlight.) The water pump is active with the key on so I can run the system while staging in the lanes (thinking about purging some n20 on the coolers )

And then the problems began....

First, to get the old pulley off. We had a hell of a time with this. We had to heat it and pull and heat and pull for who knows how many times till it finnaly came off. It fought us right down to 1/8 of an inch left. Then while we're bleeding the coolant system my fan decides it whats to blow up, up in smoke it goes. Then comes the million dollar question...will the hood close? NOPE!!! It's hitting on both cross members under the hood. Pretty sure that we can trim it tomorrow to fit though.

On a better note When we were standing in front of the car playing with the throtle the whole front end actually lifts itself up about 1/2" -3/4" when you crack it. Never did that before

I'll get a new fan put in tomorrow and deal with the clearance issues of the hood. I'll see what I can do to get some new vids then as well.
