I know what you mean, i love them and have them myself. To many people are going to have them now and that bugs me
Not only are more people getting them but more and more companies are making them cheaper and cheaper.
A year or two ago these things required major custom work and were often really expensive to make work so very few people had them and those that did were unique.
Now they're pretty common and really not a big deal anymore. They're still cool and I'm still impressed by a set that looks good and works like it came from the factory that way. I just feel kinda bad for the guys that spent a fortune a couple years ago and don't really stand out anymore.
I wonder what the next big thing will be though?
I like them, but it Looks kind of wierd on a stock car though...

Lookin' good
I guess I'll post a comment or 2 since I started a GP on these
It does seem that more and more people are getting these kits, but how many people in your area have them? I know a lot of Hondas have them in my area, but it's very rare to find a Cav or Fire with them.....Hell, it's very rare to find a hooked up Cav or Fire in my area......These door kits are the next "big thing" especially at shows. Coming on here, you'll see some people.....It's probably under 50 that have them.
Look at stuff like the Type J Kit, the StreetFire Kit, the Easy Street Air Bag Kit, etc....People see them and want them because it will make their cars stand out
Unfortunately, just like all products, another manufacturer comes along and starts making these for 1/2 the price of what people paid in the beginning. I have them and still love them....especially when I pull in somewhere and open the door up and people stare.......Love that feeling
As for the next big thing, I'm not really sure.....But, I have some ideas as to what it could be
looks like a birdy

Im with Meckster, i got mine begining of last summer payed some decent cash for them and now Everyone and there grandmother has them. But there only like 2 in my area which is good. And the other one is a honda civic.
it just seems like alot because we are all focused on these boards, I have only seen 1 car in my area with them, because it is owned by a shop, who purchased the car that way. Lots of people will start calling it played out, but as I see things its the total package that makes each car different, Just like CarbonCav, I have a blue 03 going to have vertical doors on next weekend, but its totally different looks, times change, just give it time to find out what the next "big fad" is.
The next big thing will be a motorized phallus that protrudes from the hood.
Some one should design a kit to have the doors open like the ones on the DeLorean from Back To The Future. I think they're called sea gull doors or something but I have no idea. And I know there would have to be a lot of work for the door to be able to be supported when it's all the way up but it would still be pretty cool.
"What are you going to do today Napoleon?"
"Whatever I feel like! Gosh!........"
^^Yup, or some people call them Pelican.
I agree with UIGUY, it just seems played out because its focused more on here and it seems alot more people have them.. I dont know of anybody in Central Ohio who has them..

With all of the cavs and fires on jbody getting the vert. doors, it may seem way over played, and we dont feel that it is custom any more because such a high percentage of posters on here have them. But Jbody.org and the real world are totally different. I have never seen a single car with verticle doors in my area (New Hampshire) which is why I am going to get the kit. But when I post pics on here, I'm sure I would get comments like "looks good ..." and "'bout time you got on the band wagon ..."
I think the doors look amazing on your car, with just wheels!
I love it!
