I had to have my passenger side window replaced a couple weeks ago after someone busted it out to get in the car. I just noticed today that there's no sound coming from the speaker in that door, and I'm guessing that maybe the connector came unplugged when they were installing my new window.
I don't really want to drive all the way across town to have them look at it if it's something easy to do. Is it a fairly simple process getting the door panel off so I can check this myself?
yup. if you have manual windows, pop the crank off and then on the bottom of the door panel on the underside are some screws. remove them and then the panel just pulls off.

I think there are 2 more 7mm screws right under the armrest too

yea your right. its been a while i forgot those. yea next to the door handle are 2 more screws but that should be it.
In addition to the aforementioned screws, there are plastic pop-clips holding the front and rear edges and metal clips along the top of the door. The pop-clips (my term, I don't know what they're really called) snap into the back of the panel. Use a putty knife or some wide edged tool to pry under the panel when removing these from the door. (I took apart a door during my last wrecking yard visit to get a hand full of spares.) Lastly, it helps if the window is rolled down so you can tilt the panel up from the bottom to detach the clips at the top of the door. And, you'll need to disconnect the electric lock connector from the door switch if your car has them. Good luck.
Well I got the door panel off, the speaker plugged back in, and the door panel put back on (yay!)
When I was putting the panel back on, I wasn't sure if the foam part at the top went on the inside or outside of the interior of the door, so I popped off the door lock panel on the drivers side to see what it was like there, then put it back.
I was doing it right on the passenger side, so I bolted everything back down.
Now though, it appears I broke the power door lock switch on the drivers side. When I push it up to unlock, it works. When I push it down I don't feel any sort of click, and nothing locks. It locks fine from the passenger side and from the remote, so I'm thinking maybe I busted that switch when I was fiddling with it.
(I'm guessing those aren't too expensive to replace)
Go to the junkyard and take off a panel there CAREFULLY. They are held on with like 2 screws or maybe just clips I can't remember. Carefully unplug the wires that are plugged into it and slip it out. Go pay 5 bucks for it then reverse the order to put it back in. Time and patience makes these sorta things not happen

I saw a price online of like $28 for a new one, so hopefully I can get one for $5ish at the junkyard.
Call ahead and ask what the price would be. Sometimes they charge like 30 bucks for something stupid like that. If you feel like being a badass you can always put it in your pocket lol.
lol.... I took another look at it last night and realized the switch had partly popped out from the holder. Snapped it back in tightly and it's working fine. Woohoo, I am such a mechanic!
