Hey guys, im in the process of replacing my blower motor resistor on my 03 but when i went to take the blower motor out , I saw the blower motor was secured by rivets, now i have done a couple of these before on older model cavaliers (95-99) and they were all secured by bolts. Is this something for 2000+ cars has or does my 03 have something weird going on.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks,
Josh
Nothing weird. If it's riveted, it's riveted. Drill 'em, grind 'em, do what you've got to do.
my 96 and 2002 were not secured with rivets.

My 03 was riveted on. maybe its an 03-05 thing? if i remember right theres also bolts holding it on, just drill out the rivets and the bolts(i think theres 3) will still hold it up. also if you ever have to replace the heater core or evaporator the heater case has those rivets holding it together. I think the resistor is on the side of the case and i don't think you have to remove the blower motor itself.

It must be a 03-05 thing, I can see the resistor i just cant get anything back there to get at it with the blower motor in, and when i checked the book on it, it said to take out the blower motor first to get at it, we will see, either way i don't know what GM put rivets in there when all the other years used bolts.
