GRRR! why tan interiors for sunroofs

Well i'm taking the dip back into j-bodies as a toy.

I want one with a sunroof but i'm finding out something I guess i nver noticed before and it's really aggrivating. Why do all (or at least what seems like all) Z24's with the power Sunroof come with tan interior. I honestly can't stand it, in the red it didn't look half bad....but i wanted to get a silver one with black interior. I've looked at 6 in the past 3 months ALL had the 2 tone tan interior.

Was that GM's deal you get a Sunroof....you get tan interior? Did they ever come with all black interior and sunroofs? I found a white one with all black interior and a sunroof but it didn't have the domelights in the rear view mirror...actually it had NO dome light at all, so that one was obviously aftermarket.

the reason the cars have the tan headliner, including mine, was the lighter color up top make the cabin APPEAR bigger. i know some are selling the dark headliners that came factory but there werent many. that was GM's reason from what i hear. a lot of people take them out and dye them dark. thats always a good option.

Older cars came with a dark coloured headliner. I don't know exactly what year... but 96-97 for sure. I know by 2000 it was only tan...

I've seen Z24's and other J-bodys with a sunroof and the graphite headliner. They stopped putting the graphite ones in our cars as of 1999. Almost every car I've been in with a gray/black interior, has had a light headliner. So I'd have to agree with Vince on "It makes it look more roomier".

I also wouldn't call it tan... the Tan interior that was offered for our cars has a tan headliner and it's darker than the ones found in the graphite color scheme. I'd say it's a really light gray. But that's my opinion.

Yea, I'm not sure why they decided to do the tan interior on a lot of the Cav's...

I have a White 01 Z with the power moonroof and I have a full tan interior, my brother has an 02 Z with no moonroof and he has a tan interior as well...

Make no sense to me...

OK, when I get out of work I'm going to look at this, but I'm almost POSITIVE my 2000 Z24, with power sunroof, has a dark headliner. It has a domelight, too, but not on the mirrors as someone above said one they looked at didn't. I must be wrong but how did I never notice it then?

My 96 S/F had Taupe headliner, but it had Taupe interior. Taupe is beige.
My 02 S/F has a light gray headliner and the interior is graphite.

The 02 material seems stronger, while the 96 seems more velour.
GM decided to loose a lot of option colors as there years went by to save $.

My 98 white Z24 came with gray headliner. My 96 red Z24 came with black headliner. My current 02 blue Z24 has tan headliner. How do I solve the Tan interior situation....? I swap out most of my tan interior with graphite and leave little bit of tan to match up with headliner and I am happy. My interior has tan/graphite combo with little bit of red.

I will post pics when im 100% done.
