OK, on the HVAC controls, behind the knobs is a clear plastic piece, what if you painted it a color (using STAINED GLASS PAINT or TRANSPARENT PAINT). Would this give you an effect? Also, what is everyone using to change the color of their knobs? Are they using the Stained Glass Paint?
Think most people used the stained glass paint. You could also use a transparent paint called "metal cast". Think its by duplicolor.
I used a red sharpie and it turned out AWESOME!!! JMO.
i just did a light coat of blue paint and it turned out good

Anyone know how many LED's go into the HVAC
It is possible to mod the HVAC to take the large 5-LED assembly from superbrightleds. The bulbs actually fit perfectly in the holes left by the old sockets. When you take the clear insert out you can cut the plastic with a dremel real easy and make a dip in the top side where each original hole is located. Then you can put the #74 5-lamp LED's in from the front side and solder the wire to the back side, put the modified insert back in and the original faceplate just barely fits over the top LED. That way you get side-facing LED's that light up the whole plastic insert much better than the single outward facing bulbs. I could post a pic tomorrow.
