Hey, so I have a 05 Sunfire, that will sometimes rattle from the roof area, sometimes squeak from the bottom of the car (havent been able to narrow it down), or sometimes do it both together.
Now the cars still somewhat new, and I've had the car since it had 2kms on the clock, so I should have no problem taking it back to the dealer for warranty work or whatnot, except two things are holding me back.
First, the car seems to have a mind of its own. The noises only appear when it cools down, and the sunroof has been recently used. Like, yesterday it was warm, I had the roof open, no noises or anything happening and everything was good. The car went in the garage over night, it cooled down, and it made noises in the morning. It sat outside with the sun hitting in the morning, at lunch everything was fine, and everything more than likely will be since its warm, until tomorrow morning...
The second thing holding me back is, I dont really want the dealer taking the car apart only to say everythings fine, and possibly create more rattles.
So yea, anyone have any suggestions? I've pushed on the roof pins to make sure that their holding, and they seem to be ok. But the noise from the roof still happens .
The squeak coming from the bottom I havent tried anything.

Got the same problem. I took it to the dealer when it was under warranty. They put some foam in there and said it got rid of most of it, but then had to take it out since the manager said they can't do that since it could be a fire hazard. They didn't seemed to concerned and they told me I could do it myself and I should be ok. I bought some b-quiet sound deaden material a last week but still haven't installed. I may tomorrow, but it's going to freaken rain all week so it's hard to find a good day to do it without a garage.

I know its a J, and that they seem to rattle after looking around the site. My 90 Sunbird was totally rattle free tho, from the moment my mom bought it new till 05 when it got traded in for the Fire... guess I got lucky with that one
had the same problem too man, its the roof, and around the windows. i finally fixed all the squeks with xtreme dynamat, and alot of time investigating and getting ways of eliminating the problem. I find most noises in the 03-05 are door panels, rear deck and styrofoam in the back panels as well as the dash bezel foam

It is the wire that sends electricity to the dome lamp, pull out rear roof pin, insert with sticky backing foam on to the black sunroof brace and that will apply pressure to the wire, put in roof pin. 5 min fix.
