I everyone. I am not new in this forum as a reader but as a member, it's my first post. I have search on the forum but didn't find the answer of my questions so here it is... I have a 2 door 2000 sunfire with no power windows and i wanted to know if it's possible to made it power windows?
Do i have to just find the motors and the switches at a junkyard and i'm good with that or do i need other things?
And if it's possible, does it cost alot to buy everything new from the dealer and how much could it cost for everything?
Thanks in advance for the answer...i love my car but would like to be p/w!!
Dont bother with a dealer. Rediculously overpriced. You can get it all at a junkyard, but you will need to have a lot of knowledge with electrical to make it all work. Or you can go to a custom shop and have them do all the work for ya...I know Circuit City does it...costs a couple hundred bucks...
thank you for your answer! i have a good mechanic with great skills but i want to know if i need others things than the motors and the switches at the junkyard. if yes, what else should i need? as for the job itself, how much time does it require and if i need other thing, how much does it cost? I don't know if it's a big job to do but i want to do it if it's cost less than 300$ with parts and labor!
thanks helping a newbie! lol
You can purchase the universal SPAL power window kit, and easily install them yourself in a few hours. I just finished installing my kit, and they work great. (STAY AWAY FROM THE AUTOLOC KIT....IT IS HORRIBLE)
Thanks Ryan, I have already seen this kit on their site but they cannot send them to Quebec. So i was wondering if someone know a company here or a site that can ship it to Canada? I was thinking about junkyard too but i'd like to have it brand new.
hey eric i have the same car with the same deal and im in the middle of the same thing i decided to go to a junk yard and found a 2001 sunfire with electric windows in it and i bought both doors and everything i needed for $75 and they are the exact same color as my car so i lucked out ive installed the doors and im actully going to try and finish the wiring in the morning hopefully this helped a little
tim
Get someone here in the US to buy them and ship them to you.
Thanks Tim! I didn't think about getting the whole 2 doors at a junkyard! I'm gonna try this today after the job and see what i can fing. I cross my finger for finding a 2 door with power windows!!
Steven, i saw on the SPAL site that it could have issue at the borders, so, like i've never buy something in the US and ship here in canada, is there another possibilities with the company for the shipment? I'm not sure about getting someone that i don't know buy it for me and ship me after...i don't know anybody who stay in the us!
Thanks again everone for helping me!!! Really appreciate!!!
If you go to the junkyard and grab the motors and switches, make sure you get the connectors into the motors and the connector that goes into the switch. The wiring is really simple. If you do a search on here there is a thread where someone posted and electrical diagram, so you should be able to figure out how to wire it from that. I just did this swap for my car, so if you have any other questions just email me.
Thanks everyone for the help!! I'm searching for everything at the junkyard in my area but they don't have anything for thr moment.
By the time i find, i am gonna put my new seats in my sunfire, 2005 rsx seats that i bought for cheap...can't wait to have everything done!!!
try ebay
they got the full spal kits and they even ship to canada
didn't think of ebay for the spal kit! i'm gonna check that if i can find a kit!
Again, thanks everyone!! My car will be a little greater with all your tips!!
noo problem man! when you get those installed let me know how they work
Ebay is where I got my kit...spend the extra couple dollars and get the deluxe kit (quieter and more powerful motor)
