Is the red wire the 12v or the white?

I know black is ground and I have a feeling red is the 12v

Gonna guess red is 12v and white is illumination.

theres a real easy way to find out. pop your hood. place the black wire on the negitive terminal and place either white or red on the positive. whichever wire makes the needle move is your 12v source.

but like joe said, red is power and white is illumination

Might of made a boo boo...

I grounded it just fine.. 12v I believe is fine. and illuniation worked when I tapped into the orange wire from the fog lights...

The gauge lite up and worked just fine over 14volts.. but when I turn the car off the needle stayed right where it was.

also when my headlights are on in park just my markers come on? When I put it in drive they come on? Did I just disable my drls on accident?

Help lol

Thanks

thats because you dont have it on a switched source, instead you have it on one thats constant. tap into the ignition wire
