Static zaps in my 03 cav... anyone else?
Tuesday, September 26, 2006 6:41 PM
Everyday my 03 cav zaps me on the door. Quite annoying. I have never had/seen a car with such a charge.

Anyone else got this problem? Do those yellow static strips people drag on the ground fix that problem? Any links to a device that can help this out?

Thanks guys

Winter/Fall is rolling around. Its just that time of year. I get it so bad in the winter, I habitually close the doors with my elbows all year round. It's become second nature for me.

I have a pair of dress shoes that every time I wear 'em I get zapped. Now my worn out Skechers don't...

Try a different pair of shoes w/ a different sole material

when you get out of your car, put your hand on the door and then put your foot on the ground. with your hand still on the door, move the rest of your body out. you should be all set at that point and won't be shocked. give it a try sometime.

that seems liek alto fo work, they way i fixed on on the new HHR was flip the mats upside down so the rubber part touches your feet and voila, problem gone.

a simpler way of saying that: ground yourself before getting out of the car.

or what you could do is touch your nose with the steering wheel, while lifting up the center console lid and blink 20 times.

... all great ideas.... BUT

What about the static strips ? What do they solve when people use them?

This could all easily be fixed I think with a good Grounding Wire kit. That way the car has somewhere to ground the static charge (other then you).

I see I'm not the only one who gets this "Shock" after exiting the car. I thought I was going crazy because no one else I know has thems problems till now. Why did they make our cars with poor grounding like that? Crazy GM.

Dude, just ground yourself when you get out of the car. Open the door, touch the metal part of the door, put foot on ground, exit car, close door.

This way, you don't need to buy some special "static" strip.

Elias A .... So getting timberland boots makes me a man? Do you have a mullet by any chance? Do you actully use the word "manly" when you are not on a forum?

I think I will invest in the 1 dollar static strips and see how that works. Local dollar store sells them. Alot better then getting "timberland boots".
