cluster swap

So i swapped out my cluster for one with a tach. The gas guage isnt working. everything else works. i filled up my tank and it went all the way up. but hasnt gone down yet. this is the second one ive tried the last one did the same. is there something i can do or is it just broking? i have a 99 cavalier

I think its probably just broken if you have tried 2 of them.

would you be willing to sell one of your clusters??? I've been trying to get my hands on one, but can't seem to do it....

I guess I should just ask if your fuel gauge works with your stock cluster in...

ya my fuel gauge works with the stock one. i just cant believe ive bought 2 and both fuel gauges dont work

did you run your tank completey dry (almost) with the new clusters?????

So you can just switch one out that doesn't have a tac, and put a cluster in that does and it will work??

Yes, this is what is being said, but I haven't tried it because I haven't been able to get my hands on a cluster... salvage yards around here are trying to charge me $125 for a cluster... I don't need a tach that bad...

Hahha yeah i would pay 125 dollars for a cluster thats for sure.

ya i did run out of gas like two weeks ago. but it was not working before that. i did take the needle off then and went to fill up my tank and put the needle back on the full position. im gonne try to do the same when its empty. i dont know what to do. i only paid 15.00 at the salavage yard here. has anyone had this problem?

never had problems with mine, if any of you are in MI want to come by and we can swap them out and show you the gas gauge works.

i'm having the same issue, i had 3/4 of a tank when i put the new cluster in and it read just before empty, i'm going to run it dry and see what it does after that... but its stupid...
