Hey guys/gals, I need to remove the my Cavalier's trunk switch so I can tap into one of the wires for my remote keyless entry. Does it just pry up with a flathead screwdriver?
Thanks in advance.
Brett
I'd be very careful. I just bought an extra switch just like it for another project I'm working on and it looks like it locks in from behind with these little plastic parts on the sides that flex and then lock down (I can send you a pic if you want).
I tried to pull mine out and it started feeling like either something was gonna break or the screwdriver might slip and scratch the front of the panel it's in.
I can tell you that the whole switch is about an inch and a quarter long so at least you can feel for it from behind (no easy task) If you can somehow get your hand up there, you'll feel the plastic parts on the sides that you must press down to push the switch through.
Hope this helps - I have given up on getting mine out at this point...
Thanks CustomBlueCav for the reply. I too, felt like I was going to break it, so I backed off. Like you, someone else told me that it had clips up under the panel. I tried to put my hand up there, but I must have a fat hand and fat fingers because the only thing I feel is a big wiring harness that runs through the firewall.

I hear ya - guess my hands are too big, too
You don't need to remove it. Just find the wire as it goes into the BCM.
Goto bulldogsecurity.com and look under vehicle wiring diagrams, it'll tell you what wire you need.
