sunfire interior lights......

hey all

i have a 2001 sunfire GT. i have been wanting to change the interior lights all to blue., today i went out looking for the lights and all i could find was the dome light and the 2 "reading" lights attached to my rear view mirrior. i could not find any light or light socket under the dash (feet area) or in the glove box....... is there suppose to be ones there or did my car not come with them because there has never been any light from either of those areas.....

and also the lights behind the guages..., could i buy blue leds from http://www.superbrightleds.com that come with the plastic twist in peices and simply replace ( how many are there ? ) in the gauges and then it would all light up blue?. or are the sunfires rigged with some stupid orange plastic that nomatter what bulb you use it will always light up orange, because this was the case with the sunbird i used to own.

thanks

The gauge cluster and hvac face have a red film on the back. That is where the red illumination comes from. In other words adding blue bulbs wont get blue illumination from the gauge cluster and hvac...you'll get purple....

Well Im pretty sure on the 00+ that you have the option of switching to a Cavalier cluster and hvac....that would allow for the use of blue leds.

If your glovebox already has a light, it's behind the push-button switch... that will just pop out to allow access to the light to change it over...

You can also get a Cav HVAC face only and swap over (instead of getting the entire unit)

might have to modify where the hvac cover clips on to the unit. had to on my 98 cavfire

If you couldn't find any sockets for them then I would assume it's pretty safe to say you don't have them.

I have an '02 Sunfire GT with map lights and a dome light with one bulb in it. My mom has a '98 Sunfire SE Sedan with a glovebox light and a dome light with three bulbs in it.

I think how it works is if the car does have map lights, it doesn't have a glovebox light and it only has one bulb in the dome light. If it doesn't have map lights then it has a glovebox light and three bulbs in the dome light. I am not 100% certain on this, it just stems from putting two and two together from seeing different model, year, trim, etc. Sunfires.

As far as the courtesy (floor) lights are concerned, I don't think any Sunfire ever came with these lights. I could be wrong, but I have yet to see a Sunfire with them.
