i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions to how I could get my dot matrix to even out and look right. It isn't bad but as everyone knows the window tint doesn't like to stick to it. I tried this afternoon to get a hair dryer and a spatula to see if I could do anything but it didn't help too much. The guy who tinted my windows said that it never wants to stick and he could always just cut it off off the dot matrix. How does it look without tint on the dot matrix? I have never seen any like that. I also know I cuold get a black piece of vinyl put on the outside. I would do that but I don't know if I'm much on that idea.
that is because they dont know how to make the tint stick
its not hard to do
i heard someone used some kinda glue on his ...
and it worked
and i'm talkin like elmers glue...and just squeezed out the excess (<--lol)
you could also go with vinal on the outside to cover it up
the just cut my tint so it stops at the bottom of the dot matrix, it looks better than the bubbles if you go over it.
just put black vynal over it on the inside, thats what the guy did at the tint place whrere i went, and it looks good and it sticks, and u dont get that look like its bubbled

My tinter tinted up to just below the dot matrix. Then he painted the dot matrix. Looks flawless from the outside and its no big deal you loose a little window on the inside. I would say paint it.
use vinyl at least you can take it off later. thats what the tint guy did to mine too.

Ok so, including you and myself, that's about what? Three people on J-BO that can spell "vinyl" correctly?

I just had my windows done and the guy placed black vinyl on the inside over the dot matrix and then it meets up with the tint. It looks perfect!!! I would definately reccommend it. I had my other cavalier tinted over the dot matrix and it looked ok, but this black vinyl over it on the inside looks awesome.
thats funny they vinyled my cavalier i took the rsx in and told a diff. shop bout it they had no idea what i was talking about so i brought the cavalier in to show them. and they said they would do it, so i take it back a week later just for the strip on the top and they seem to @!#$ it up after it took them so long to even get a piece of vinyl for my window, so they say it was too hot and i need to leave the car there a couple hours. dumb ass people pissed me off
Anyway do any of you guys with vinyl mind posting some pix of the vinyl from the inside? thanx!
I would like to see some pics of the guys who have vinyl on the inside. I thought about that idea and about put that in my original post but I figured it wouldn't stick from the inside either. Some pics of where the tint stops right below the dot matrix would be good too if anybody has some.
I will probably end up doing the black vinyl on the inside if everyone says it looks good. I tried for like 45 minutes today to get my dot matrix to even out by using a hair dryer and a spatula...No luck...
I got my windows tinted at a local Tint Crafters, and they didn't put tint on the top part of the rear window where the dot matrix is. I think it looks cool. But the guys at Tint Crafters didn't do it and they are professionals, so I wouldn't attempt it.
if i had batteries in my cam id take a pic of the vinyl on the inside, i got 10% tint, and black vinyl on the inside where the dot matrix is and you cant even tell where one starts and the other stops, came out great. ill take pics when i get batteries in the cam....
Thanks for posting those pics man. I think thats what I'm going to end up doing. I have 5% tint so it would look pretty good. What did it cost you to have the strip of vinyl put on?
By the way...Here is a pic of my car just for the heck of it. I put the stock tails back on today (had altezza's) and then tonight a buddy of mine and myself debaged it. Thats not me in the car, its my cousin being retarded.

uhm... im sorry, but the vinyl doesnt look good imo. i think they should went down to the first defroster line..it woulda looked a lot better.
the first time they tinted my 97z... they dot matrix looked like ass, i took it back cuz it was bubling real bad everywhere on the back window...and then they got the DM PERFECT....
then i did my 98z a few years later at the same place... and the dotmatrix looks decent..but in one area its coming up... so yeah...i really think its in how much the tinter wants to bother.
Clear school glue. Works like a charm. Smear it all over the dotted area and then just press in out like you would the rest of the tint. Sorry to all the tinters for lettin' out the secret.
fast, reliable or cheap. choose two.
i had mine done for $175 with a lifetime warenty, and they didnt have any problem applying the tint over the matrix. no bubbles at all....
the tint shop i had them tint up to the matrix then I used flat black spray paint to cover the dots, make sure u tape everything off really good and keep both doors open.
