how do i remove the PRND321 indicator?
Tuesday, February 14, 2006 7:37 PM
i've changed the lights in my gf's cluster and hvac unit to purple leds. now i want to change the PRND indicator, too, and i can't figure out how to get it out. you would think it would be simple, but for some reason it's foiled me three or four times now.

thanks in advance

1) Remove knob

2) remove center console.

3) Look at selector with a blank stare

4) Pull up on clips that hold it in.

5) Replace light bulb with choice of your color.

6) reverse ALL instructions above

There center console has 4 bolts holding it in. all 10mm i think.

there is 1 bolt all the way towards the fron inside that storage tray part, under the removeable cover, The next is under the window switches, Juts pull that piece of trim up and you will see it. And the last 2 are inside the armrest itself all the way at the bottom.

with the shift nob off, your gonna have to pull the center console up and back to remove it.

Its a pita till you get used to it. You may need to put the car on, and put your shifter in N to get needed clearance, keep your foot on the brake till it comes out, then put car back in P and turn off.

Reverse instruction to reinstall.

theres a screw under your HVAC

2 in the console storage area

1 under your P/W panel

I think they are all 10mm bolts

Then raise your parking brake all the way so it will be easier to pull the boot up over it

slowly raise the whole assembly out.

PRND123 thing has 2 clips on P/S and one at the bottom of the D/S

There is a bulb socket on the D/S - you can plug one big LED into it or do what I did and wire 5-6 individual ones - just takes some trying to get the angles right so all letters/numbers light up evenly.

well i ruined the first cluster. i didn't know the motors were so delicate and when i put the cluster back together the gas gauge didn't work.

luckily she knows someone at the dealer and they replaced the cluster for her. then i desoldered the motors from the new cluster and redid it
