I took my car in to get a spal power window kit installed and hooked up to the stock center console switches i pulled from a wrecked cavy. The windows work fine and move up and down at a decent speed. The thing is they are so noisy, the passenger side more then the driver. The motors are so loud, I'm taking the car back to the place next week to get my doors dynamated and some other work. Do you think the motors are supposed to be like this or is something wrong with them? Also, will the dynamat help suppress the noise?? Can I have them like wrap the motors in some kinda sound lessening material? Sorry for all the odd questions, I just really don't want the windows to be that loud, I know every time someone rolls down the passenger window they will ask if my power windows are messed up.
anything I can do about it??
That seems to be the cure-all solution around here to many of our problems. They told me to turn up the music to eliminate my squeaking dash, and it worked!
hehe
thats not even funny, i dunno what to say
why not turning the music up helps drown out all kinds of noise and it doesn't cost a thing. on a serious note yea the dynamate should help some. maybe they can wrap the motors in some dynamate. ask them when u take ur car in.

^^ I though dynamat only sticks to metal surfaces? Will the dynamat cause the motors to overheat if I do apply it around them?
^^ Good idea, but now that I think of it, the motors only run when the window is moving up or down and they can't create that much heat because they are only running for a few seconds at a time. Maybe I could just dynamat them since they won't be constantly running.
just leave some air gap inbetween and there should be enough air to keep it from over heating
unless you got people that play with the windows , and do the up/down thing ever 2 seconds , lol
^^ well, we have been talking about dynamating which is what I plan on doing, but what should I get instead of the wayyyyyyy over priced dynamat, I'm thinking fatmat or something more in that price range.
Mine were loud too, but we put some sound deadener in the door panels and it made it considerably quieter. Not like a Caddilac, but much better.....
maybe the sound is being transferred through the mounts? insulating those screws with grommets could help, right?
also, does anyone know if the autoloc power window kit is quieter than the spal kit?

i have an autoloc power window kit and its not much louder than the stock power windows my friend has in his z24. i think autoloc may be quieter, but spal seems to be more reliable from what i've read
