headliner and rear deck recovering question

I have started removing the old carpeting from the rear deck and am planning on just recovering the headliner in black vinyl. What did everyone that did these use to cover up the holes from the child restraint holders and also the garment hangers on the headliner to get a smooth flush finish?

i would try to find the same or a similarly flexible board (can't think of the name) maybe at your local home repiar store, hobby or hardware store, the same thickness.
Cut out the exact size of the holes..... then cut out anopther piece of the same material wider than the peice you just cut out....
Glue the smaller piece in center of larger piece using contact glue, then glue the outer edges of the bigger piece to the back of the rear deck, or the headliner.....
Just gotta make sure that the small pieceis exactly the same sice and you dont get gaps, and that is is the same thickness
Ohh and if theres a curve to it, score it........

Thats probbaly what i would do......If theres a better way, please do tell.....
i don't see why that wouldn't work
