I know this has been posted on here before but I was wondering how you might go about making your own hvac gauge overlay? Any help appreciated...
Sommer...
when i did mine a couple years ago, i made 2 pieces, a front and a back. the front had the design i wanted, and the back was completely black, but cut out where i wanted light to shine through. then, i glued them together, sprayed on several layers of Krylon clear coat to protect the paper, and put it in place of the stock hvac face. it's lasted 2 1/2 years now, but im taking it off cause im doing something different. you can see pictures of it on my cardomain page.

what kind of paper did you use? Thanks for all the help....

In photoshop/comparable program:
Design the HVAC to the correct size specs (20.5cm x 6.1cm)
Change the Canvas size to 8"x10", so the HVAC remains 20.5cm x 6.1cm
Take it down to a walmart, superstore or another place that will print out photos quickly (Superstore does it for 2.99 and it only takes an hour) if you take it there the quality will be better than any desktop printer and it will already have a clear coat on it.
I added an identical HVAC to the 8x10 image but colored it completely black.
When I got my picture back, I cut out the areas I wanted light to shine thru on the black one, glued it to the back of the colored one, and then glued both to the little HVAC plate thing.
I just made a new one, so I'll take pics when I get it in.
Oh and go to the last entry on the first page of
this post for a template.

i just used regular paper to print mine, and then sprayed on a few coats of Krylon clear coat to protect the paper. held up really well for the last couple years.
