hey, im wanting to do a bit of fiber glass work in my cavy... definately knew to this idea but the first project i have in mind is to fill in my EQ slot on my deck mount with a fiberglass piece
what im wondering is
a) what materials do i need to buy?
i know i need resin and hardner, what else?
b) where i can buy these items?
can i buy them at a hardware store? like HomeDepot, or?
thanks for the help... I did do a search for this, but there are so many threads that have to do with fiberglassing and not one of the ones that i read mentioned what materials are used.
thanks again
Basic fiberglassing requires:
Fiberglass, either the sheet fabric stuff, or the chopped hair
Resin
Hardener (usually comes with the resin)
Acetone (you clean the brushes with this before they get hard)
Cheap brushes
Rubber gloves (buy a box of 50 pairs or somethin)
Kitty Hair body filler for some of the harder to form areas if doing shapes
Lightweight body filler
Glazing putty
Plastic Spreaders
Plastic cups (you mix the resin in these)
Tin foil (you soak the fiberglass in resin on this before putting it on the piece)
Hardware and automotive stores should have most of that. High quality stuff doesn't have the name "Bondo" on it, but for small interior stuff, it works just fine.
