Ok so I am gonna go and buy all my sanding tools soon and I talked to a guy I know who does lots of fiberglassing and he said that air sanders tend to take big gouges out of things alot more. Is this true? What do you guys usually use when working on your interior as far as the sanding tools go...and should I buy the air sander or the electrical sander.
Also what is a good rpm to work at when sanding?
Thanx.
oh by the way I am talking about orbital sanders
do what i did... get both =]

get both. i use an air D/A sander
Both. Sometimes its better to not have a cord connected.
Fact 1:
“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely
true.
haha well that doesn't help
I just want to by one...which is better
you can't just buy one. i hand sand alot. i use a sanding disc for alot of it and use a old skool power sander for parts of it.
i think if i was getting one id get the electric....air when the pressure gets lower your sander would spin slower..causing those gouges you were talking about...unless you got a nice air compressor
get the mouse from wal-mart and hand sand the curves/edges
air sander for getting the rough shape for the quick nockoff. then switch to a smaller orbitol or a mouse sander, then go with hand.
i myself will soon pick up a new air sander
and i have
mouse sander,
5" orbital
belts
4x6" flat sander
dremel
bench mount belt and disc sander
my hands
if you can honestly only afford one sander, i'd get an electric, it wont be as fast as an air, but youlle be able to do finer work with it.
