I called a trim shop, told them i wanted my two bucket seats and my back bench upholstered with white vinyl, and that i could get the vinyl myself.
THEY QUOTED ME $800.00 !!! Am I just ignorant to how much this costs or is this guy off his @!#$ rocker??? My god......
Custom upholstery isn't simple. That's about the cost of a Katzkin's kit, right? And they have all the patterns and everything ready. The shop you're going to would have to come up with them himself.
The price sounds fair to me. I paid $1600 CAD for mine to be reupholstered in leather.
well i called around some more and heres what i came up with.......
800-1000
800
700
650
300
all different prices. id love to do the 300 but i question his work since its so cheap
One guy told me he couldnt make a fair estimate without seeing the material and the car. Sounds like someone i'd like to trust .......
WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP CUSTOMIZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yea doin seats and all plus the fabric isnt a cheap thing i think was around that price materials and all for my seats....

you could sell that wing and get a few more bucks.... lol
good thing i live near mexico... i get it for around 200.$ they do a damn good job..... i love having hook ups...... and paint jobs go the same way to
shops around here charge $250 per bucket and $250 for the rear. that seems to be the average anyway. so thats not too bad of a price tag.

Yeah... but he's doing vinyl. Even expensive vinyls are pretty cheap.

eventually you will look at it and just say to yourself "what was I thinking." I myself am glad that i realized how bad they look before I actually got one. Believe me, I wanted one to when i first got into cars. And I didnt want just a spoiler I wanted the biggest tallest one I could find. Keep it while you like it but some time you will want to get rid of it.

It's too agressive for a z24 kit. That's the problem. If you had a Bomex on there, or a Drift kit, it'd be a different story.

Spoilers aside, the fact remains you're gonna pay mostly for labor. So when you're priced more, you know what you're paying for. I would ask that $300 one to see some pics of his work...
yeah ill check tou his work, but i think this spoiler flows with a cavlier great, it has the same lines, just my opinion..... i really wanted the spoiler that comes stright off the deck lid like a saleen spoiler, but i couldnt find it, and i really like this one. Who knows maybe soon ill thinkits gay and replace it , but as of right now i like it still....
800 is cheap..are u goin to a shop known for there custom interiors ifd so thats dirt cheap... the good shops by me prices start about 1500 and up...but they also warranty the work..and ur pretty much gonna have one of the sickest interiors around
boils dow to u get what u pay for
i may have an extra set of seats out of a convertible for sale. they are white vinyl. email me and ill let you in on it.

I live like 3 miles from mexico too. and i can get it for like 100 - 200. and a good job too.
I say just spend 300 on a trip to mexico and spend 200 to get it done. you spend 500 in total, and you get to go on a road trip.
you live 3 miles from mexico but it costs $300 to take a trip there? what the hell are you doing down there? lol
<img src="http://www.tabascoracing.com/images/splash_01.jpg"><a href="http://www.tabascoracing.com">
lol no i meant it would cost him 300(meaning not me), or more, dependong on how much he spends on unnecessary things. but i guarantee you its cheaper than paying one of those shops he asked. it costs me like 5 bucks of gas and 1 to cross the port of entry
wow, expensive. i got mine front seats(no rear) done for like 100 bucks including fabric and labor. it looks and feel fantastic. no lie. but i live in dominican republic(i gotta get outta here..), where labor is dirt cheap.
only pic i have is of the front of it.

it has pontiac under the headrests
Some times it really worth it to pay the extra price if it means superb quality. I had to get the top preplaced on my old 92 gt convert mustang and this shop in my town did a simply amazing job and the new vinyl piece matched the exterior color (white) perfectly and fit better than stock. i would go back to him in a heart beat if i needed some upholstery work done. paying 800 is worth it being done right the first time than paying less and having to go back to replace hog rings or re-fitting the covers because they shifted or look crappy or something.
kidwell your post topics always sound so gay, but once u read it, it tends to be a legitament post.
i'll have to talk to Jake (toyota pickup that lay's rockers, used to have the orange del sol with graphics) and see what he can qoute you at. He did Jess (low low) interior and it was using cavalier seats, with purple tweed and black vinyl flames.
...
have you thought about the ones from autocraft? Mine are blue and Medium graphite, they came custom for my ride and look great too!. Just a thought...they run like $400 and the guys that put it in for me charged 150...got out kinda cheap and the back seats match the front! That is like the main thing people look at when they check out my ride...check it out at jc whitney...or you could make a trip to mexico!
CADENCE
personally i love the spoiler (and i'm not one to say this very often). flows with the car nice, the car just needs to be LOWER! lol....
as for the seats, 800bux dont sound too bad, heck i paid well over double that for a pair of bucket seats a few years back... then again i had some fancy logos and stuff put in them, etc..
