Well I tried searching but only found stuff for 00+ cluster issues.
I have a 98 Cavalier, 2.2 5 speed and im not sure what the issue is. The headlights work, the interior lights work, all lights work but the cluster lights and the HVAC lights do not work. Also the coolant temp gauge doesnt work. Anyone with input? Thansk

Don't take me the wrong way, but have you tried all the simple things? Check bulbs and make sure the brightness knob is all the way up? It could be cluster related, but I have never had this problem to diagnose...

As far as the temp gauge, it is either a bad cluster, a bad temp sensor, or the wiring to the temp sensor. Most likely the temp sensor. It is located near the upper radiator hose on the driver side.

I have checked all simple solutions, fuses are good(all of them), wiring isnt chopped or hurt, dimmer switch is plugged in and turned up.
It just baffles me

i had the same issue too it only has done it like twice but a quick slap to the hvac controls fixed it lol

tried the smack technique...nothing

Nobody? Do you think i just need a cluster?
