I'm not all brains with cars but I would have to say either the motor is completely dead, or if there is, a fuse may be blown. Maybe wiring is shot or the button is bad. all could be causes. Look into the fuse though someone with the knowledge can help more I am sure. Just feel like giving some kind of advice :-)

I had a similair problem, what i did. I took the headliner down, unbolted just the motor, make sure when you go to bolt it back in you mark the gears so that the timing for the sunroof isnt messed up. Now hold the motor in your hand, still connected. And try and push the switch to open the sunroof, if the motor turns then it should be fine. If not, then you know what you need to replace.

This isn't neccesarily true. You could push the button and the motor not spin and the motor could be fine. It could still be a bad switch of broken wire.

Is the key on when you are trying to open it?

THIS IS SIMPLE TAKE IT A STEP AT A TIME
1 CHECK IF YOU HAVE VOLTAGE AT THE MOTOR WHEN YOU PUSH THE BUTTON TO OPEN IT IF YOU HAVE THEN IT'S THE MOTOR IF NOT THEN CHECK THE GROUND JUST IN CASE

2 CHECK IF YOU HAVE VOLTAGE GOING TO THE SWITCH AND CHECK IF YOU HAVE VOLTAGE WHEN YOU PRESS THE BUTTON GOING TO THE MOTOR IF NOT IT'S THE SWITCH

3 CHECK ALL THE FUSES FOR A BAD ONE

He did #3 already which should have been step #1 in your troubleshooting.

I had a problem with my sunroof not working...if you have power and everything spins or looks like it spins the problem is more than likely the splined piece. The one on mine stripped out on the shaft(where u can stick a allen wrench to close in an emergency) and caused the splined piece to just spin and spin. Just check everything and make sure you have power to everything.

I am currently having a similar problem with my 97 Z24. The motor works n has voltage going to it, when you push the button it acts like it wants to go but the window doesnt open. At first when it started acting up, you couldn't vent it, you had to hit the button twice for the window to even move, and now it doesn't do jack, any ideas? gears?
