i think you just have to get all the brackets that bolt to the floor with it.

You dont really need to switch anything. It's only the front bracket thats different and you can live without it perfectly fine.

I am trying to swap from a 95-99 5 speed console to a 2000 sunfire auto console....should get interesting....the shifter does clear in all gears, so it will work, just have to get to work on getting some brakets made up or something..but as far as 00+ into a pre 00 sunfire, it shouldnt be hard...if jeffery says its not, i guess ill trust him considerinh how it did end up being the wiring on that GTP i called you about lol

Console swaps are a breeze. I did it in my 99. You need the front bracket, the shifter, and the rear bracket between the shifter and the e-brake. Watch out if you're upgrading and have the 5 speed. I know with the eco swap the opening is cut out a little more on the front side near the 2 cup holders. Not really sure on those running the old Isuzu. Otherwise its a 20 minute swap including clean up.

People can't learn common sense. You're born with it. Either you have it or you just don't!

You don't need the shifter.

The front bracket wouldnt be a bad idea to have but also something that is not NEEDED you can do without very easily. I never switch shifters or brackets and no worries at all.

Here ya go cavi....sitting in a '96 sunfire...Got console from satch.....

Only thing i noticed was that the very front braket hits a tad bit...lower that half an inch or so..OR you may be ablt to cut it, bend it around and use it for the new one.....either way this is just a mock up..fits fine otherwise, shifter is close but fits....Yay !!

PS: excuse the mess..working on other things for the car and the crap tends to get in the passenger side of the car....

david...I wonder if you could trim an auto to fit ???...hmmm...I just wish an eco shifter( short throw or stock) would fit but they wont...unless you modify the heck out of it....It would be a perfect fit after that then you might be able to use the bracket and all...Works either way though

switching the 00+ ones is easy its just that top piece you need to go from auto to manual.

And Dave you took too long lol

Well, I set it in, and the shifter clears right off the bat, but the holes to mount it don't line up, so I pretty much just have to make some custom brakets or something to haold it down

I don't know for sure, but I don't think the 95-99 Sunfire consoles will fit in the 00+ models because of it's height. If I'm right the dashes are lower in the center of the 00+ due to the double din radios. I could be wrong though.
