Has anyone had a problem with their shifter getting really loose? My 2001 cavalier has a really loose shifter. The linkage seems good, but there's definitely an issue somewhere. Anyone have any insight? I'm thinking it's just the white plastic ball at the bottom wearing down. I might try just upgrading to a short throw that has a nice metal ball. Thanks for any help!

I had a problem with my short throw that sounded similar to yours. the rubber o ring around the ball was ripped, causing it to get loose and having to really jam it to get over into 1st
