does anyone know the J-car to not have a cig lighter outlet?
every J I've seen personally had at least one. My sunfire had two and being that I have a z24 fully loaded I should have two as well.
Ripped my dash down to impact bar and no sign of outlet wires in either location. the part of the dash closest to ignition doesn't even have a provision on it for an outlet.
Any idea? some sort of non smoker package?

Even if there was a "non smoker package" it is used for many other things other than lighting cigs.
I don't smoke and i use mine personally for my GPS and a recharger for my cell.
My 96 GT has a single outlet. Never heard of a j not having one either... strange. If worse comes to worse you could go to Advanced and but an outlet and wire one in.
It's possible to have none. My 1995 Dodge Avenger didn't have the smokers package and I had to install a cig lighter outlet myself. Wasn't hard though. I think it was a 7/8" hole and wiring to the fuse box. Not too bad. They have the outlets at shucks or you can buy one from a fellow j-body driver.
yea it's not an issue to install one, I could do it with my eyes closed. It's just, the car is a z24 why is it missing 2 cig lighter outlets. especially since it is a 2000.
There's a thread in the General forum pertaining to "Updating the JBO faq" that contains links to various manuals. One of the posts has a link to a page where you can download owners manuals. The manual for the '00 has a page (2-46) that describes how to use the cigarette lighter and ashtray "if equipped". I'm guessing that means it was an option. (You might want to download the manual for reference anyway.)
mine is an 01 and I have a cig lighter, only the one by the ignition though.
I know alot the newer ones especially sunfires had 2 I believe.
the car must have came with the "non smoker package". I have the "non smoker package" in my 99 cavy . It did not come with a ashtray or lighter however mine did come with a " power outlet " on the dash next to the cluster for cell phones , gps units etc, etc
but like most have said already its a easy fix.. good luck

And the outlet is the same thing as the cig lighter.... it just doesnt come with the "lighter" part of it. Thus the issue.
Nomatter what, i have never known of one to not come with some kind of outlet. But if you don't have one, you don't have one. You would know if you had one. Sucks, just make a trip to advanced in the morning to pick up the goods.
Maybe the previous owner shaved it for a cleaner look?

I have a 02 sunfire, 2 plugs, one by ignition and one by the passenger floor.

This is possible... but our interiors have a certain texture.... if they shaved it it would turn out smooth, and prbly a different color unless the whole interior is painted.
But nomatter what pics would help.
my cav is an 00, all the other cav's i checked out *yeah i looked at more then just mine lol* have it on the right next to the steering wheel i don't smoke but that would suck if i did and i didnt have one
thanks for all the input guys. Yea it def isn't shaved you would know. I use the outlet for gps and for HPT so I will just be wiring one in this weekend.

Interesting, ya post pics. Mine's right next to the ignition. I had a dumb ass friend try to start my car once and stuck the key in it and popped a fuse lol
my 03 cav came with the non smokers package but has the cigarette lighter outlet but chevy put a rubber stopper to give it a clean look.
