He asked about 00+. You fail.

From what I understand the 00+ clusters are very delicate. I suggest talking with Alex at Black Cat Custom.

Ok I have a safer idea. what if i wire additional LED's and stick them in the cluster. my new question would be which wire should i connect the LED wire to so when i turn the gauge lights on they go on with it.

how do you propose "sticking" LEDs into the cluster as the 00+ cluster has the lighting soldered to the board.

just an FYI unless you haven't come across it. The LED swap in 00+ clusters is nearly impossible unless you have a lot of experience in doing the change. It is not something you can just do "overnight". The problem is that with the 00+ clusters the guage needles are attached to the cluster motors with some sort of pin. Without properly taking in apart you will effectively damage your entire cluster as once you replace the needles they will not work since they are not pinned back in place. Even if you successfully get the cluster apart you need to de-solder the bulbs and solder new bulbs onto the board. There is no rear access to the lighting nor face like in the earlier clusters.

No one here to my knowledge has been able to successfully take apart an 00+ Cavi or Fire cluster and have it work. If you have your heart set on an LED lit cluster contact Alex at Black Cat Custom. He has a lot of experience in doing the swap. Pricey, but obviously worth the money once you know how much work is put into it.

i have taken 2000 and 2003 cavlier clusters apart and 2000-01 sunfire clusters apart... the needles were all the same, pressed into place.

you can attach leds inbetween the cluster board and face although i dont know how will that would work

also if i remember correctly the brown/white wire off the dimmer switch is the control for the instrument panel
