Could you not maybe take the spacers to a machine shop and get them milled? Just make sure they are well balanced.
i could and thanks for the sarcasm guys i meant because of my body kit from straight on view . but yes i could get them milled down i just wanted to see if any one else had any ideas because i have seen pics of j bodys with them close to flush with body

that has to do w/ the offset of the rim. take the spacers off.

a) Wider Tires
b) Reduced wheel offset
c) Spacers
d) Axle modification
e) Avoiding fattening body kits
If your spacers gave you the desired effect, but caused the tire to rub the fender, then perhaps the fender can be rolled or modified. If you think you would be happy with less of a change in tire position, such that you could avoid rubbing the fender, then maybe it would be possible to mill/replace the spacer or change tires/wheels to achieve that.

i know i said it and so did others its the offset of the rim. if your offset is wrong your rims wont sit right
an offset of +35 is "sticks" out further from the fender well and a +48 is closer to the brakes...
Shadow offsets suck!
Here are some options, a few of which have already been mentioned, for keeping those spacers...
Roll & pull the fender lips
Go to a reputable alignment shop and have them shim the rears to give some negative camber
Get lower profile tires
Raise the rear a bit
Use stiffer shocks and/or springs
As we all know, 3rd gens have rather wide hips out back. Luckily, there are plenty of options for you out there...
Just one or two of the above will take care of the tire rub.

what do those 3 have to do with making the rim sit out farther?

I presume they are to help with fender clearance, so that the spacers he has are a working option.

Geeky's got it!
I like the look with the spacers, frankly. Were it my car, I'd do what I could to keep the look while loosing the issue.
Appears that humblenewbie has it covered, so all good.
