hey guys im looking for a set of light weight 16's. need them to be available in bronze, what do you guys suggest and do you have a pictures, again im more worried about perfromance rather than apperance. tyia
So i'm assuming price does not matter than, or its atleast "lower on the list."
yeah, i mean keep it reasonable i just want to see what you guys prefer for a rim.
With your car, I'd say SSR Competition 16"x7.5" at 11.9 lbs. Nice and light, but expensive. ($340 per wheel)
A more cost effective choice would be a set of OZ Ultraleggera at 14.8 lbs a piece.
($190 per wheel)

"The J's weren't designed to be sports cars, the suspension sucks, the brakes are tiny, and the target market for our car doesn't need to be able to do any more than 65mph." - Shifted
A more accurate observation has never been typed. These should be the starting points before any serious performance modification. What's the point of making a serious performer if you can't control it's power?
no bronze, though.

thanks Xavier i like those ssr's but yeah there not going on the car in my sig. that car got totaled, my new car is a 03 arrival blue eco.
Maxxim Oxygenes, I believe they're available in 16", and I know for a fact they're available in bronze. Rays Gram Lights are good too. About the same weight as the SSRs and a little cheaper if you know where to look. I've seen 17" Grams for about $230.00 each and 16's are almost always cheaper. Or Borbet WHeels are a good choice too. I had a set of 16x8 on my DSM and they weren't too bad. Tire Rack stil lsells them and the prices are reasonable.

sorry im lazy but do you know were to pick up some grams or the FNO1rc's for the cheapest?
well someone beat me to sayin the 5Zigen FNo1RC, i know at wheelmax.com they're 209 in bronze(thats what im getting but im going through rent a wheel so it's cheaper) but yea, 14lb wheels, cant beat that.
I was looking at some used SSR Comps for my non-j-body, but I have read too many stroies of them bending. Would have been a good deal for $500 though, for 15's and tires.
I opted for new 15" Enkei RPF1 for $670 total, without tires.
anton, i just found em at edgeracing.com for only $188. thats pretty durn good considering i havn't seen em under 200 yet.
you may also want to look at my post i made about these same rims dealin with weights and lost track times. im lookin to mabye get them in 18 since the spoke doesn't extend all the way to the lip. and im trying to get some opinions on weather the rim(even though its really lightweight, 17lbs for the 18") will hurt performance any. |
thought i'd let you know
do they make those w/ a 5/100 lug pattern...i thought those were only 4/100

The lightest you will find are steelies. Then slap a set of Moon discs on them for the areo look. The discs you can paint any color you like.
And no I'm not kidding as you did ask for the lightest.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
lol thanks jackalope...lol....that was good..ive got the steelies right now so....
Well you did say the lightest !!! And I don't know of any lighter then them.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
How much do the steelies weigh anyway?
I weighed them just the other day, the 15" steelies weighed 20 lbs, without the wheel cover. I also weighed the '95-'99 16" Z24 wheels and they weighed 16 lbs.
isnt there a link to some site that gives the weight of the oem wheels? and ive got the 14 inch steelie, do you know how much those weight
that sucks about that car being totalled. It was one of my favorites. anyway, good luck with finding some wheels.
i ordered some 16" rota subzeros in bronze for my lude, they are 14lbs each.
