Issues Getting Into First

a few months back, I did an Eco swap and installed the Team Green LSD while everything was out. ever since then, I find it hard to get into first more times than not (not every single time), and second sometimes wants to be a pain in the ass too. now for searching the registry's sake, I have the Fidanza short-throw that was in the car when I bought it 2 yrs ago. even before the swap, I sometimes had issues getting it into first, but it got better with time. now its an issue again, and I'm trying to figure out if maybe we installed something wrong (the guy that helped me has done the LSD once before and got it right) or if its my shifter. it does have some noticeable slop/play, and doing some searching, read that others have had sloppy shifters making things difficult too. any other opinions or options?

I'm trying to get a B&M from a friend, mainly to see if that'll cure the issue

It is always better to go into another gear before going into first gear. Also running a better fluid than stock will help. I like the hurts trick shift.

it is not really a issue, just the way the tranny's are.

it was bad enough to where Xian commented on it. when it comes time to tune it, you'll see.. I'm sure you'll behind the wheel at one point or another. unless its gotten better by then. when I first picked it up, it was doing the same thing but not as bad and I did make a habit of going into second, then first.. but eventually I was able to go strait up into first without much resistance. now it seems like its returned, but a lil worse

as for fluid, I'm running Royal Purple. I havent seen the Hurst Hotshift in some time, at least around here

I guess as far as a mechanic's error.. you and Robert have done these before. is there really anything we could have done to make it act this way? I mean, everything seemed to go back together. the only thing that stands out in memory is that one '8' shaped plate you have to pull off, I believe to lock the diff so you can spin that bolt out.. when we put the plate back on, it wasn't flush. but we ran the bolts in and tightened it down and it shut completely.. everything else went back together fine
