New slave cylinder/hydraulic release bearing leaking
Sunday, July 18, 2010 8:23 AM
I have a 97 z24, just replaced the tranny, installed a centerforce clutch and pressure plate, and put in a new slave cylinder/hydrauliuc release bearing (not sure which one you would call it, have heard people call it either one) and am now having a problem. My clutch works fine until the car is warm but once it warms up after driving for a bit, the clutch fluid leaks out from the bellhousing of the tranny. Any idea as to if it is a defective one or if the install may have been wrong as well as any suggestions?

Sounds like a bad throw out bearing to me.

So the throw out bearing is the same thing as the release bearing/slave cylinder? or different piece?

Release bearing is another name for a throw out bearing, and the slave cylinder has the throw out bearing built into it.
