How many fingers does YOUR pressure plate have?
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 8:04 PM
hey guys, trying to figure something out with our pressure plates etc.... id like to know how many fingers yours have. stock or otherwise any brand, any stage. and please be sure to say which of both it is. unsure on if eco or LD9's are any different but if it matters im only curious about the LD9/quad stuff. either style, flat or stepped.

so far i have nailed down a few...

stock izuzu stepped = 15
centerforce DF = 15
spec stage 3 = 18
spec stage 3+ = 20

Anything worth doing is worth over doing.

i see 18. which is odd.... no idea why gm would want a stronger pressure plate for an OHV (even in this case a replacement) than say an LD9.

so, with that said i guess i need to do some more research on the fingers etc.

just because there are more fingers doesn't mean its necessarily stringer. More fingers means more cuts, more cuts means less available surface area, but again that doesn't necessarily mean anything. You could have more fingers but out of a weaker material. Might have something to do with engagement feel.

^^ it does as far as ive heard. but yea, like i said... need to do more research on the fingers part.

all i know is paul replaced the centerforce (stock) pressure plate with a spec stage 3+ and the engagement/feel and all out performance is like night and day different.

luke, wtf how does you're 3+ have 18? pauls has 20.

do you like this clutch? I am considering one once my spec takes a poo. Which I hope it does soon.

it only slips when i'm not paying attention. same engagement point every.single.time. very predictable feel.
