What are the benefits from a 4T40E to the 4T45E????

I heard there is a Rebuild kit for the 4T40E to make it a 4T45E, from my understanding it replaces some ureathane bushigs with metal bushings and brings the tolerance from ten thousands of and inch closer to 2 thousands of an inch??

Is this true?

I just picked the Planetary gears of my trans off the road yesterday, looking to replace it ASAP

It's the weak link in our trannys for sure. GM hired these guys to sing a song about the 4t40e Differential

has anyone used that level plug location? we tried pulling it while running the car at idle at operating tempature and it just gushed. I got scared and put the plug back in.

..... atf can be kinda hot sometimes.

It's mislabeled in that pic, that plug is the drain plug. The "level check" is a weep hole near the fill.

It's nowhere near the fill! It's an 11mm bolt located forward of the passanger axle and slightly lower. As for the drainplug.....never noticed it. I don't think it's there. I'll take a look at a 4t45e at tommorow on the off chance that they have one.

Shift through gears before checking the level. 10 seconds in each. It lowers the level just a little.
