auto ECU

so i cant get a clear answer.

what i've read is that if i use an auto ECU ill get a check engine light, but will the car still be drivable? also, if i dont wire in the clutch start wire, will the car not start at all? i was planning on just leaving the car in neutral for starts and use the handbreak. the reason i ask is i did the chassis harness swap for an auto an my engine harness/ecu are auto. also, from what i understand, the auto harness will work, there will just be a few extra plugs that dont get hooked up..... correct?

Get all the parts you need in a pile, and drive the car into it.
They will find their way into the correct places.

The auto harness works just fine... my clutch switch is not hooked up and my car starts fine (not sure if its jumpered out or not though). You will get CEL's for the transmission which may or may not affect how the engine runs, I'm not sure if it puts the engine into limp mode.

I drove my 'vert across the country for the 05 Bash.. two days after finishing the 5 speed swap. I didn't have the manual program, so I ran the auto PCM that the car had originally. The idle speed is lower on an auto, so you have to rev it up a bit so you don't stall it... and you will have a check engine light for the 10 or so codes that will be thrown as to the auto trans 'missing'..

You will have to bypass the clutch switch unless you have the dash harness with the clutch pedal wiring... or do it up yourself. One of the plugs you will have left over from the auto trans is the big yellow & purple wire... that's the auto trans neutral safety switch. Jump those wires together, should be good to go. Just don't park it in third gear and remote start it... it'll drive into things... trust me on that one
