I wanna know if it is Posssible to swap a 2004 cavalier 5 speed tranny into an auto 2004 chevy malibu classic???

find a junkyard Grand Am/Alero with a 5-speed Eco setup, rip out all of the shifter parts (cables, clutch pedal, etc.), and transfer them over to the Malibu. Also get the trans mounts, passenger side axle center-link thing (I forget the proper term). They're both N-bodies, so everything should bolt up. The transmission should also be the same between a 5-speed Grand Am and a 5-speed Eco-powered Cavy, so it should drop in without a whole lot of effort. Then get someone with HPT to clear the tranny part out of the ECU so that it doesn't go crazy, and you're ready to go.




In actuality, it's probably a lot harder than that, but that's the basics

one problem i see is with the console....

no malibu ever came with a manual so...
