Clutch Slipping?

05 cavalier 5spd, 31,000 miles. My clutch pedal has gotten really soft over the past few months, and the transmission doesn't seen to grip as much as it used to. I know our cars tend to have a soft clutch feel, but I distinctly remember a time when it wasn't this soft. At 15,000 miles my clutch actuator went out and was covered by warranty, ever since then my transmission has seemed schizophrenic, acting differently one morning from the next. Is this normal? Is there some sort of test I can do to figure out whether my clutch is slipping or it's just a matter of the clutch pedal? I have a lower motor mount, and a b&m short throw, on a stock clutch.

Doesnt sound like clutch slipping. Especially at 31,000 miles

When you go into gear, and let off clutch pedal to engage... Does it engage when your almost off the pedal?

If it grabs quick or even half way, I dont think your clutch is slipping

Check your reservoirs, master and slave, make sure you dont have any leaks

^ Your engagement point really doesn't have anything to do with the clutch slipping or not.

If you want to know if the clutch is slipping, go about 25mph and put it in 5th and stomp on it. If the RPM's go up and you don't move, then your clutch is slipping.

Thanks, that helps out a lot, if it doesn't slip I may have it adjusted, there maybe something that's not set right.

theres really no adjustment to be had on our clutches... unless you have air in the system...

When you guys say "clutch actuator" failed, what exactly happened?

this summer, on my 05 at around 46,000 i took off 1st gear from a light, slowly into 2nd and the clutch stayed on the floor, never coming back.
i couldn't engage it or anything. Warranty covered it, is this the actuator??

My shifter has actually acted up after that a little bit, goes rough into 1st gear sometimes!
