I searched and the only clicking I found was for a manual and no one answered the guy.
After driving for a few hours yesterday there was a clicking sound from the trans while going slow. Parked the car and it was clicking fairly loud. Shut the engine off and it kept clicking gradually slower till it stopped. I know it was internal and as the parts slowed to stop the noise stopped.
I figured maybe it was low on fluid so I added 2 qts. of dex III and started it up. It was clicking really loud and then got quiet. As I was out driving it started again once I started to coast down. When I came to a red light it was clicking. I jumped on the highway and went down about 2 miles, got off, it was quiet. Drove it for another hour, quiet. Then my girlfriend went to the store and said it was clicking only once when she turned. It's not the CV clicking. That wouldn't click in park, or neutral. This did.
I hope it was just low on fluid. I might add another qt. today.
It's a 4T40E w/ like 90k miles and an autotrans interceptor. It shifts great, no slip, and doesn't drive any differently. It was just making a plastic slipping against plastic clicking sound. Kind of like when a Dodge trans goes into reverse.
Anyone know what might be bad or if that's just a low fluid symptom? The trans has a very slight seepage from the pan gasket and one of the cooler line fittings, but it's not bad enough that I'm going to do anything about it because I really have no where to work on it and my apt. complex doesn't allow you to work on your car in the parking lot.

I figured it out. The noise was also happening when I turned the key on with the engine off, it was the cooling fan rubbing the radiator. I guess it came loose somehow. I messed with it and now it's fine.
I have the fan on a 30-amp relay that is switched with ignition so it runs with the key on. Thank god I thought I was gonna need a trans rebuild.
