I have read the forums and have not been able to find the answer I am looking for so I will ask here. Ok I have an 01 cavalier with a 2200 and a 5spd. I want to put a B&M short shifter in and from what I have read all 5spd transmissions were the same from 00-05 with a few differences (like bell-housing pattern and gearing to name a few). All the sites that I have looked at say it will fit an 00-02 2.4L or a 02-04 2.2L. So my question is this. Is there a difference between the 2.4L and the 2.2L shifter and is there a difference between the 02 and 01 shifter. From what I can tell there isn't, but I could be wrong, it has happened before (I know, I know, impossible you say, but it has happend). Any help clarifying this will be helpful.
ok your not understanding what i am talking about. i know about that shifter but everyother website says that it is only for the 00-02 2.4L or the 02-04 2.2L. I have an 01 2.2L (2200). the years and models listed do not list mine. which leads me to believe it will not but i just want to find out if someone has used that shifter with an 01 2.2L All B&M lists for compatibility is the year range of 00-05. all i was asking was will it fit mine or is my year and model a special one. If it fits and works great but i don't want to buy it if it will not work. a simple yes or no will suffice.
yeah, all b&m list for compatibility is 00-05 because its the same shifter. for example, they also list a 95-99, because they all run the same shifter thats different from the 00+.

You're '01 2200 will have the Getrag Tranny, so you will need the B&M shifter for the 00-05. Even though yours isn't listed on some sites, you will need the 00-05 shifter. Guaranteed...
