Will a 2.4 VSS from a 5-speed work in a 2.2 5-speed. Are the the same?

i was wondering if the VSS from a 97' 2.4 5-speed would work in a 99' 2.2 5-speed transmission and give the same readings
i checked autozone and the VSS has different part #'s for the different cars.

that is strange as the isuzu diffs have the same speedo ring no matter what as well as the same clearances. Id check out another parts store to find out if those p/n are the same.
