are you talking about the a short throw shifter thats meant for your car? As long as you buy the right part there is no modification to the trans, the shifter doesn't even touch the trans, all it does is controll 2 little calbes (shift cables) dirrect fit with no issues

it will if the sunfire has a izuzu trans, if it has the the getrag then it may not fit or it will require modification.
