Hello all I have a 2000 Z24 with the Getrag 5spd trans with the Team Green LSD insert in it but I'm in the process of building a turbo motor for my car and was told to switch to the NVG-T550 trans with the Team Green LSD and I was looking for feedback from you guys here. The reason it was suggested is that my turbo setup should make 500 - 550 hp and 450 - 475 tq, is this too much for the Getrag and if so what cars have the NVG-T550 that will fit in my 2000 Z24. Thanks for any help you can give.
2000 Z24 5spd header & catback for now.
I'd say keep the f23. Get a quaife and you'll be set for some real good power.
Sven you totally quarterloafed your computer..
I like the nvg. They can be had for low miles if you look and its way cheaper. I got one for my 99Z for $245 w/ 39K on it. Also the 90-93 are made by muncie
. I dont know what car your putting it in but if its an isuzu and you want to swap its a whole lot easier from what I hear. Im doin a how to with pix when mine comes in.
Ohh you have a getrag already just read your post again sorri. If nothings wrong with what you have then stay with that. But the NVG thats compatible w/ third gen J bodies can be had off of the 93-94HO engines(beretta, grand am).
500-550 hp? Yea right .. ahahahah
Racer Styles - Laugh now, but when the motor is done and I post the dyno numbers we'll see what you have to say then. It constantly amazes my how many doubters and naysayers there are out there, obviously they have no idea what it takes to make hp/tq like I'm talking about.
Now for a history lesson, when the Quad4 HO first came out a guy named Jim Fueling built t turboed 2.3 HO which made 750 hp and set a land speed record, so 500 -550 hp is not impossible if you build the bottom end and use a ported 086 HO head, intake, bigger tb, W41 cams and a properly sized turbo. But I'm not going to waste my time trying to convince you, as someone once told me " you can show someone better thanm you can tell them".

Well now that i read in your other post, 500 flywheel hp, its a little more believeable, but I still don't know man... To me, that a little exxaggerated, but I guess its good to have goals. I myself would stay with the 2.4 head just to keep the c/r reasonable..
wow what an idiot. Those numbers are very capable with the right set up. Hell any engine is capable with the right amount of money. And c/r is a matter of pistons. If you didnt have anything helpful to say you could've kept your mouth shut. People told me 220 hp wasnt acheivable out of my 95 ford escort lx. Not only was it achieved it was a daily. Go ahead Dale build your motor and post the questions when you have them the guys on here are real gear heads and will help you in every way they can. Good Luck with the build.
yea getrags are decent Id say stick with it.
Just out of curiousity, what are the differences as far as gear ratios? 1-5 and FDR.
Brian it matters on the engine it was mated to. There are a bunch of setups GM had the T550 in with different rations but all had the 3.94 final as far as I know.
