I have a 2002 z24 with the 2.4 and 5 spd. I am looking to install a 5 spd with shorter gears. What are my options?
I do have a 2001 5 spd from a cavalier with the 2200 OHV. I know this is not a direct bolt in. I am not sure what all is different. I am also okay with disaasembling to swap certain parts if this is a good option. Thanks in advance Wade

2000-2002 F23's are all pretty much the same (2200, 2.2 Eco, 2.4)..... the only exceptions are the HHR and Saturn Vue..... you can get either a 4.17:1 or 4.41:1 FDR (ours has a 3.94:1)
The Cobalt with the F23 gets a 3.58:1 FDR, and the Ion gets a 3.84:1 (from the info I have found)

So you are saying I can bolt up the transmission from the 2.2. I do not need to change anything. Same clutch, flywheel, axles and the same bolt pattern?

The bellhousing is different between the 2.2L and the 2.4L. It won't bolt up.
The guts will work, if you swap the case with a 2.4L one (which will bolt up).
