You could go to a shop and have them flush and fill it for you... or save yourself the $100+ and do it yourself.
Drop the pan, replace the filter and metal ring (it's a pain to get off, I'm warning you), put it back together.... but you STILL have lots of fluid in the converter that won't drain when you do it that way.... so you'll end up with a mix of synthetic and conventional.
just drop the pan and replace the filter. refill witht the normal stuff, the gasket is reuseable. you will be fine so long as you have a cooler and a shift improover. my trans has well over 200k on it and has been seeing boost for about a year now and has been fine
you fill it from the red cap. there is a plug in the front of the trans you remove to check the level. if its running out its to much, you just want to fill it to that point with the car level.

The check level hole is on the passenger side, not the front. The front lower hole is for a temp gauge or pressure sensor... pull that bolt, and you'll drain too much fluid.
The proper directions are in the Library FAQ.
There isnt much left in the TC, the fill after a rain is 6.9 quarts, the fill capcity total is like 9.5

Uhh... where did you get those numbers? Quite off...
Bottom pan removal - 3.8L
Complete overhaul - 6.6L
Dry - 8.5L
So the bottom pan isn't even half the fluid.
The 2004 FSM states the following.....
Bottom Pan Removal - 6.5 liters - 6.9 quarts
Complete Overhaul - 9.0 liters - 9.5 quarts
Dry - 12.2 liters - 12.9 quarts

Like others have said, drop the pan. It will be messy and you'll get about half the fluid. Like others have said, that will leave you with 1/2 synthetic, 1/2 used up conventional fluid. The ring on the filter isn't so tough after you figure out how to get it. Use a thin screwdriver to lift the flange maybe half an inch around so that you can grab this edge with vise grips. Once you get a good grip of the flange with the vice grips, twist them and the ring will collapse in on itself and fall right out. Don't try to pry it out, you'll go insane.

Hmmm... now I'm wondering WTF is wrong with MY service manual.....!
that sucks that it will only be 1/2 synthetic...
what if i want to be completely synthetic?

Is running the engine briefly with the transmission pan down harmful to the tranny? If not, this might purge the converter, but check with someone who knows more. If you can't do that, you might try filling the case up with synthetic and draining it again. Then you'll have 75% synthetic, but it will cost you a lot of money because synthetic ATF is expensive, especially when you're throwing it away like that. I don't think it's worth it at this point. I doubt the difference between synthetic and dino ATF is as great as that of motor oil. I've got synthetic in my MTX, but that's only because I could drain all of it. I'd go with a regular good quality ATF if I were you. Just stay away from trick shift.
