ok guys my 2000 fire's 5speed went today and my dad works at a Gm dealership they said it would be 1800 to rebuild the clutches went and this is CRAZY how much do you think it would cost just to have it back to stock shape again?

Cheaper to buy another tranny and swap it in, any '00+ getrag will work, but the bellhousing may need to be swapped depending on what engine the tranny came off.

Yup, you'd be better off swapping another trans in. I can find them around here for $300 in decent shape.

You'll need one out of a 2.2L (OHV) engine car... not a 2.4L or 2.2L Ecotec, as the bellhousing is different. You can swap the case, if you're good at pulling apart transmissions...

Then again... if you were good at swapping cases, you'd know how to fix the trans... so... I'm gonna guess that's outta the question
