Sorry people, the illusive search hasn't been my friend. I search for gear swaps and I see tons for the 2.2 to 2.4 isuzu and was wondering is these ever was or is a thread for gear swap options available for a '00 Getrag 5spd?
If this has been asked before I appologize, a link to the thread would be great.
IIRC, there was a 4th and 5th gear swap from a 2.2 trans to the Getrag, as well as a final drive swap from a Pulsar? maybe that will help your search.

Everything I read is talking about swapping the 2.2 gears into the isuzu tranny not the getrag. And the 2.2eco getrag trans has the same gearing as my 2.4 getrag. so swapping those out would be pointless. Anybody know if there is any options out there?
Truly I do not think you need a gear swap on the getrag, unless you are trying to be a 10 second car. The getrag has better gearing over the Isuzu already.

I'd only swap gears if you had a chasis and engine that'd wanna go 60 in 1st
but since we're on the topic anyone ever get custom gears made for their F23?

Almost all Getrag F23's (american ones) share the same gear ratios.
The only usefull parts I've found are the FDR from the HHR (4.11:1) and Vue (4.40:1)....... The Vue also has a different 5th, forget what it is off the top of my head.
There is a Getrag F23 used in Europe, but not sure if they are compatable with ours.

I wouldn't mess with the final drive ratio unless you can get a taller 1st gear. lowering 4th or 5th may help though.
if 1st is 3.58 like I read and swapping final drive gears from a vue is 4.44. the ist gear will =15.985:1. a completely useless 1st gear
I think the hhr final drive is 4.10. that would be good for 2nd,3and 4 but still give you a useless 14.678:1 1st gear.
unless you got some really tall really sticky tires you are going to be launching in 2nd alot

to be able to shift once to 60 would be sweet.. or not shift would be sweeter. but of course there are not too many cavvies with balls/chassis to back up a tall gear set like that.

No body thinking about changing the differential gear?
I have the same trouble with my 2002 tranny and my 3.8l engine. i just break my 1st gear.
it's too fast.
