Possible gasket Blown?

I have a 2003 cavalier and I had a little leak, because the guy who owned it before me bottomed it out, I called the dealer to see how much fluid to put in, and they told me 5 quarts or whenever it starts to come out the hole, now I put 4 quarts in and I started driving the car, got on the highway then all of a sudden I seek smoke coming out of my rear view mirror, so i pulled over and tranny fluid was going everywhere, I figured I had enough to get to the gas station so I drove it and when I got there, my car didn't leak at all even after I added some fluid.
My question is there a valve on the back of the tranny, that would open up after it was too full? or did my gaskets go? But why would it stop leaking after awhile? Any help would be great Thanks, Josh

Which hole did you wait for fluid to come out of? Theres a small 7/16" plug facing towards the oil drain plug on the back. When the car is warm and level, add fluid where the red cap is, and it should have some come out the hole, wait till the fluid level subsides, then put the plug back in. if its still leaking, which should have been obvious, then change the pan or gasket accordingly.
