need tranny help from everyone

hey guys i drive a 2001 z24, for a while i have had problems with 3rd gear grinding not every time i shift but about 85%of the time well last night it popped out of third twice never happened before but still not every time i shifted into 3rd well today i was driving and put it into third it popped and made this loud click and grind noise and wouldnt go into any gear i finally got it into gear and drove it home but its making a clicking noise when i drive soooo what do i do guys?? do i need a new tranny? I can still drive but im sure its just about to go out also wheres a good spot to get a tranny if i need to and does anybody know what other years and models i can pull a transmission out of to put in my 01 Z??? thanks guys

Lucky for you, any '00+ getrag will work (2.2OHV, 2.4TC, 2.2eco, 2.4eco), you'll just need to swap to the 2.4TC bell housing that's in your car now. Same thing happened to me, now I keep a spare.

hey so next question does anybody know what might be wrong with the tranny was thinking it might be cheaper just to have it fixed rather than replace the whole thing

hey and will a 5 speed out of a 2000 sundfire work?

Sounds like a blocking ring/synchro issue, possibly caused by a bent shift fork. You won't know what needs to be replaced until you have it apart, and then you might have to wait for parts, etc. I'd just buy another tranny and straight swap to get it fixed fast.
