k well i got a 1997 2.2L auto 3speed, and at about 90km/h its at like 2500 rpm, and the engine seems to be just screaming, it also has a k&n filter on it.

Thats about the right rpm for 56mph, without the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) engauging. Typically the TCC will engage at part throttle cruse at speeds above 40mph(about 64kph). Many people confuse this as shifting into a 4th gear, but it is just the TCC locking up, instead of using the fluid shear in the TC to move the car. You should feel what feels like 3 shifts: 1-2, 2-3 and 3-TCC lock-up. If not, then your TCC is not locking up.
