Whats up. My 97 GT's called it quits the other day and i need to replace it. My ? is will the getrag from the new body style swap onto the 2.4s. I work at a car dealership and the trannys in the new car are alot smoother. thanks for your inputs.

The ECO TECH trans will not bolt right to the 2.4 with ease. It's close enough to make work with a little creativity but prolly not worth the effort

"close enough to make work"? WTF? It's a totally differnt bellhousing!!! You'd have to swap the trans case.

Wrong 2 of the bolt holes match the quad 4's and they happen to center the crank line. All except for one of the other holes can be drilled and tapped into the block. The last one can be left to float however i would recommend an ear or bracket be added just for good measure.

Ok, anyway... to answer the question....

YES you can get a getrag from a 00-02 2.4L and it will bolt right up to the motor... BUT the trans mount brackets are different than an Isuzu. You would have to cut off the rear mount and weld in the Getrag one... which you can get from GM. The front you can drill a new hole in and line it up.

The Ecotec getrag is a different bellhousing... in addition to what I wrote above.
