well i had some fun last night with one of a friends 383 stroker. long story short my clutch is starting to slip a bit.. it will last maybe another month or 2 if that. im stuck between a spec III or IV. i dont mind a lil harsh engagement.
the spec III comes in 4 or 6 puck. and the spec IV is unsprung and comes in 3 or 6 puck. im looking to make 300 -325whp. they are both the same price.
who has the spec IV? all opinions are welcome.
btw, when you bought your spec clutch, did it come with a new slave cylinder? is it a stock modifed pressure plate or is it a beefy one? throw out bearing?
13 psi and climbing......
I used a SPEC stage 4 six puck with a unsprung disk on my 99 2.2. I didnt have a problem driving it on the street. I just had to feather clutch a little bit more than normal when taking off from a stop.

did ANY of the spec clutches come with a
slave cylinder
throw out bearing
what kind of pressure plate?
13 psi and climbing......
My stage 3 six puck came with a new slave cylinder. I love how it drives, if taking off slow it's sometimes a little choppy, but every other gear is smooth and tight. If launching hard, it grabs immediately with no hesitation, hard not to break the wheels loose (I might need more practice). The clutch releases and engages with literally 1 inch of depressing the pedal, at about 3 inches from the top. The pressure plate was roughly the same size as the stock, but the whole assembly weighed a lot less.
Stage IV 6 puck, love it.Not much fun in stop and go driving but tolerable.Comes with slave and alignment tool.
SPEC came with all you need to do the swap. I have gotten use to mine taking off in slow traffic was not an issue. I don't even remember i have a stage III till i drive another persons car with a stick shift.

I have the Spec Stage 3 and Fidanza aluminum flywheel that is getting installed this weekend, as my stock clutch and 90K miles is cooked.
Mine came iwth everything you need and i bought it brand new unused from somebody off ebay, and got the flywheel ff ebay as well.
I am also intalling a direct port 75 shot this weekend and i have been told the stage 3 will hold up just fine, im not worried.

Well no problems with my flywheel and th clutch installed fine but the slave cylinder that came with my clutch was bad and leaking, i cant get it to bleed out so now i have to remove the trans again.
This sucks.

Do you know how to bleed out the clutch slave?
Because if you know how, you don't have to bleed out the system if you replace the clutch.
